Stefano Bosis

Stefano Bosis (Milan, Italy, 1979) is a contemporary visual artist born in Italy and based in Berlin. His work is characterized by an expressionist and abstract visual language in which figures gradually dissolve into pure color and gesture.

After initially studying computer science, Bosis’s artistic career began to take shape through experiences linked to theater, urban art, and the Italian performing arts tradition. This multidisciplinary journey led him to focus definitively on painting in 2012 after he obtained an artist residency in Berlin.

In 2014, he was invited to an artist residency in Colombia. This experience marked the beginning of an extended journey through Mexico, Guatemala, and Cuba. Contact with Central America had a decisive impact on his paintings, which became more abstract and featured a broader, more vivid color palette.

Rather than anticipating a final image, Bosis allows himself to be guided by the rhythms of the pictorial flow. He embraces a process that he does not seek to control completely. Drawing inspiration from Greek and Indian mythology, imaginary paradises and the expressive potential of colour, the artist intuitively surrenders to the act of painting. His work is notable for its expressiveness, emanating from the power of colour, and for oscillating between atmospheric fluidity and accentuated gesture.

His artistic career includes numerous solo exhibitions, including Human Odyssey at Gallery Grolman in Berlin (2025) and Who Paints the Sky Will Walk on Clouds at Galleri Oxholm in Copenhagen (2024). His work has also been featured in multiple international group exhibitions in locations such as Berlin, Hamburg, Milan and Venice.

Stefano Bosis’ artwork is part of important institutional collections, including the European Museum of Schengen, Luxembourg, with the painting Schengen (Migrant Series) (2025), and the Deji Museum in Nanjing, China (2021). In 2018, he received the Award to Culture — City of Lainate, Italy, in recognition of his artistic contribution.

He has also participated in international contemporary art fairs, including Positions Art Fair in Berlin (2025) and ARTVERONA in Verona, Italy (2024). His participation in the Fellini Gallery artist residency in Berlin in 2011 is another notable experience. Other relevant events include his participation in the Fellini Gallery artist residency in Berlin (2011).
