Tauromaquia
We are pleased to present, in collaboration with the Club Monteverdi, the first exhibition of Carlos Azañedo’s “Tauromaquia” series in Spain, a collection of pieces that explore the bullfighting tradition and the rich culture and artistic legacy that surround it.
In this series, Azañedo draws a personal journey through the world of bullfighting, where movement, light, emotion, and dramatic tension define each composition. Through legendary episodes, bullfighting maneuvers and passes, as well as moments of triumph and mishaps—inseparable from the bullfight—the artist constructs a visual narrative in which the most famous bullfighters of our time appear.
The collection results in a series of highly expressive and colorful artworks, executed with technical precision, in which Azañedo captures the tension and essence of the encounter between bull and bullfighter, demonstrating a special sensitivity for conveying emotion and dynamism, as well as a profound psychological dimension in each piece.
The exhibition presents the most recent paintings from the series developed by Carlos Azañedo in recent years and coincides with the arrival of Madrid’s iconic San Isidro Fair.
The exhibition will be on view simultaneously in two venues: at Marlyn Gallery until May 28, and at Club Monteverdi, located at 36 Almagro Street, until the end of June.
